How To: Target A Subset Of Visitors (Journey AB Testing)

Step-By-Step Guide To Targeting A Subset Of Visitors.

Use subset targeting to split your audience into two even groups (A/B Test), with each group only being shown one Journey or the other.

This ensures each visitor is only eligible to see one of the two campaigns while still allowing you to track each campaign's performance individually.

NOTE: You will need to create a Journey for each Campaign if you have not already. Create Journey Tutorial Page

Step 1: Create your A and B Targeting segments.

Navigate to your Admiral Dashboard, select Journeys>Targeting Segments>Create Targeting Segment.

Create_Targeting_Segment

We'll need to create (2) Targeting Segments, a segment for Group A and a segment for Group B.

For Group A, we'll give a Name, Label, and Description that clearly indicates this is Test Group A.

Then we'll select Add Targeting Criteria>Subset of Visitors and make (1) our Minimum and (50) our Maximum for Subset A and Save.

Targeting_Segment_A

We'll next create our Group B Segment. For Group B, we'll give a Name, Label, and Description that clearly indicates this is Test Group B.

Then we'll select Add Targeting Criteria>Subset of Visitors and make (51) our Minimum and (100) our Maximum for Subset B and Save.

Targeting_Segment_B

You will now see your (2) Targeting Segments in the Dashboard. We'll now navigate back to the main Journeys Menu and target each respective Journey to it's respective Targeting Segment.

NOTE: You will need to create a Journey for each Campaign if you have not already. Create Journey Tutorial Page

On the Journeys page, open the menu (3 horizontal dots) beside Journey A and select the Edit option.

Journey_A_Edit

Now open the menu (3 vertical dots) on the Journey Editor and select Edit Targeting to add our Targeting Segment.

Journey_A_Edit_Targeting

In the Edit Journey Targeting Menu, click Add Targeting Criteria, select Targeting Segment, select our Test A Targeting Segment and Save Targeting.

Save_Targeting_Criteria

Now complete the same steps for the Test B Journey to target Test Group B. Ensure the Journeys are Active (Green Circle to left of the Journey) and you're Journey A/B tests are live!
